The beauty of social media is connecting with fabulous women and that's exactly how I met New Yorker Wendy Silberstein, aka The Aesthetic Organizer, on Instagram. For Wendy, it's more than just organizing one's home ... it's about simplifying one's life... quality over quantity. Prior to launching her professional personalized service that helps New York City residents "organize, simplify, and maximize," Wendy was a buyer at Bloomingdale's, which explains her keen eye for details. The passion that she has for what she does is so evident so read on to learn more about this Mompreneur and her tip as to how best organize your shoe closet.

What is your favorite quote or life motto?

Take chances. Make that leap, you never know where it may lead you.

When and how did you start your business as a professional organizer?

I started my business as a professional organizer in May 2016. I handed out postcards and business cards in my neighborhood and spoke to moms in local retail stores. My first referral was from a wonderful new mom who worked with a colleague who needed an unpack for 5 closets.

What’s the story behind the name “The Aesthetic Organizer”?

The name of my company was created to reflect the importance of the relationship between organization and aesthetic. When aesthetic organization organizing is executed properly, one is creating a system that maximizes space, creates productive systems and reflects the aesthetic of the client through thoughtful solutions and personal touches.

What is the number one most common organizing mistake that you see people doing?

Most people do not know how to identify the first space that they should organize when they want to start the organization process in their home. They think they can tackle unrealistic spaces at once and end up spinning their wheels and do not accomplish their goal.

What is your favorite room to organize? And which space is the most challenging?

My favorite room to organize is the master closet. My background is in the fashion business so I create a space that is organized, accessible and merchandised beautifully. The most challenging is always the kitchen due to the number of categories and yet, proves to be the most satisfying when successfully completed!

What is it that you love most about what you do?

I love giving back to my clients by offering them a service that they are not able to perform on their own. I gain their trust and create immense satisfaction and their reactions are priceless.

Time for some style talk! What would you describe your overall style if it had to be categorized?

My overall style is casual comfort. A pair of jeans, a comfortable tee, a fitted cardigan and a pair of wedge loafers take me anywhere.

What’s your fashion or beauty indulgence?

I am sucker for a fabulous lip color and blush to make me feel really good.

Which shoe brand do you love most?

I have more than one. For booties, I love Rag and Bone. Wedged loafers, I love Stella McCartney, and for casual sneakers I love Vince.

What’s your favorite shoe style?

I love a low cut bootie!

What is the best way to organize shoes? Is it by style or by color?

By category, then style and then color.

I have to ask, what is it that you like about the line of products by Protect My Shoes?

I absolutely love the aesthetic you put into each pattern! Your thoughtful selection complements any pair of shoes at any time of year.

What is your dream travel destination?

My dream travel destination is Bora Bora.

What are key tips to packing efficiently?

  1. Lay out your selections by category-tops, bottoms, undergarments, shoes, accessories, etc.
  2. Once laid out, create outfits for day and evening. Take advantage of items that can become multipurpose to allow you to edit your choices.

When not working, how do you spend your down time?

I am always puttering around my home finding projects to engage in. My leisure activity is golf in the warm weather and setting goals to take a bunch of walks.

What inspires you?

I am so inspired by people who have a passion for what they engage in everyday regardless of their level of profession. And the Geico commercials!
